Why Do Muslims Pray?

Prayer (Salah) is the second pillar of Islam — a direct connection between the believer and Allah, performed five times daily.

Purpose of Prayer

Allah says: 'Establish prayer for My remembrance.' Prayer reminds Muslims of their purpose, purifies the heart, and maintains a constant connection with the Creator throughout the day.

The Five Daily Prayers

Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (noon), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night). Each prayer takes about 5-10 minutes and includes recitation, bowing, and prostration.

Benefits

Prayer brings discipline, peace of mind, community unity (congregational prayer), and spiritual growth. The Prophet said: 'The first thing a person will be asked about on the Day of Judgment is prayer.'
